Botanical Colors Aquarelle liquid natural dye extracts

Saxon Blue - Liquid Indigo natural dye extract

The legendary Saxon Blue is now available to natural dyers. First created in the 1740s, it is an easy and marvelous colour - greener than traditional vatted indigo and a great base for teal, aqua, cornflower, periwinkle, lilac and medium value purple.

To use simply measure out the amount of liquid indigo and vinegar and add to the dye pot. Add mordanted or pretreated fibre or yarn and heat gently. Enjoy the beautiful blue! For easy colour combinations add Liquid Himalayan Rhubarb for green or Liquid Lac for purple.

Botanical Colors dye extracts work on all natural fibres but the Liquid Indigo works best on wool, silk, alpaca and other protein fibres. On cotton, bamboo, Tencel, linen and hemp it is a very pale blue. However, the other colours in the range work equally well on any natural fibre.

50 grams of Saxon Blue will dye about 500 grams of fibre or yarn to a deep shade and around 1kg of yarn or fibre to a medium shade.

Price: £12.50 per 42ml (50g) [item code DY501]
