Kool Aid is a soft drink powder from America which is ideal for hand dyeing animal fibres such wool, alpaca and mohair. It contains citric acid so you don't even need to add a fixer. You simply mix the Kool Aid crystals with water, apply them to the wetted yarn and then heat it to make the dye colour fast. While not as versatile as our procion dyes (it won't dye plant fibres such as cotton for example) Kool Aid dyeing is a quick and easy introduction to hand dyeing. Our Groovy Kool Aid sock kit includes twelve Kool Aid dyes, 100g of our exclusive alpaca/nylon sock yarn, gloves, an apron, instructions and a knitting pattern to make a pair of luxurious, soft socks with your own hand dyed yarn. The kit is supplied in a box which is microwave safe so you can use it to heat your dyed wool to make it colour fast. The Kool Aid dyes provided are: strawberry (red), orange, lemonade (yellow), lemon-lime (green), ice blue raspberry lemonade (blue) and grape (purple).
