All about Fair Isle tutorial |
||
Legend has it that Fair Isle knitting began with swashbuckling tales of Spaniards escaping from the wreck of the Armada in 1588 and becoming stranded on the island. In return for the islanders' hospitality they taught them the familiar colour patterns we know today as Fair Isle. If you want to learn how to use this eye-catching Scottish knitting method then get down to your local newsagents and pick up a copy of the October issue of Simply Knitting magazine. Debbie has written a two part tutorial which takes you through the basics of Fair Isle knitting and teaches you some top tips and colour tricks as well. Large, clear photographs throughout the article teach you how to work the yarn with your fingers to ensure even tension so you'll soon be mastering this unique knitting technique. Make sure you don't miss part two next month! Simply Knitting magazine is published by Future Publishing and is available at all good newsagents.
