New Kool Aid funky hand dyeing kit

We were very excited to launch our new Kool Aid funky hand dyeing kit at the Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate in November.

With the emphasis on fun, the kit is an ideal introduction to hand dyeing and contains 50g of our pure wool DK, six sachets of Kool Aid along with disposable gloves and an apron. The instructions even include a knitting pattern so you can make a pair of knit-mitts and a pair of wristlets with your hand dyed wool. The kit comes neatly packaged in a microwave safe container.

Kool Aid is a fruit flavoured soft drink powder from America which is ideal for hand dyeing animal fibres such as wool, alpaca or mohair. It contains citric acid so you don't even need to add a fixer. You simply mix the Kool Aid crystals with water, apply them to the yarn and then heat in the microwavable container to make the dye colour fast.

The kit includes six flavours - strawberry (red), orange, lemonade (yellow), lemon-lime (green), ice blue raspberry lemonade (blue) and grape (purple) - so you can create some funky rainbow dyed shades.

The knitting patterns are suitable for new knitters and there is enough wool in the kit to make both the knit-mitts and wristlets.
