We were very excited to be invited by the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers to be one of the exhibitors at the Trade Fair which forms part of the Association's Summer School.

The Summer School takes place every two years and Summer School 2007 was held at Falmouth University in Cornwall from 29 July - 5 August. Over 200 Guild Members from all around the world took part in classes ranging from basket making to indigo dyeing.

It was amazing to see the creativity of the Summer School participants as well as the sheer volume of work that everyone managed to produce in just five days. Pete particularly enjoyed seeing the output of the Digital Printing workshop and was bitten by the weaving bug when he saw the dazzling array of patterned cloth produced by the weaving classes.

The fashion show after dinner on Friday night further showcased the talents of the Guild members, many of whom had brought pieces they had made over the previous year. It was truly inspiring to see the variety of work on show from delicate cobweb shawls to stunning woven fabrics.

The Gala Dinner on Saturday was a lovely way to bring the event to a close and we would like to thank the Inkle Loom Weavers for allowing us to share their table and their company for the evening.

We want to pass on our thanks to Sue Dwyer for all her hard work in organizing such a successful Summer School. We would also like to say thank you to the staff at Falmouth University who made everyone's stay a very pleasant one. Finally we would like to thank all the Guild Members for the warm welcome they gave us during our time at Summer School.

Roll on Summer School 2009!
