Rita Taylor's socks and hat set pattern published in the March 2010 issue of Knit Today proves that there's more to life than socks when it comes to sock yarns!

Rita designed both the socks and the hat in our exclusive hand dyed alpaca nylon sock yarn. Rita said "this is a really luxurious yarn with lovely stitch definition - ideal for simple rib and cable patterns".

The hat and the socks are made mostly in rib with some winding cable motifs in between to add a bit of interest without being too flashy. Both are worked in the round for a seamless finish, with the hat knitted in two strands of yarn to make it especially warm. Instead of making two socks the same the pattern makes a separate right and left version with a single, larger cable motif worked on the outside of each sock and basic ribbing knitting on the rest of each sock.

Our alpaca nylon sock yarn is 90% fine alpaca with 10% nylon for added strength and durability. Rita used the new Aquamarina shade of the yarn and there are 20 others fabulous colourways to choose from. Debbie individually hand dyes each skein of our hand dyed yarns so you can be sure your hat and socks will be completely unique.
