Kit 8 - Sleeveless top in wild Thai silk |
||
This top is designed to flatter the hipline, curving softly into the waist and flaring out slightly over the hips. It will comfortably accommodate a fuller figure as the silk has a lovely drape and is not clingy. Silk is a good all-weather fibre as it is warm when the weather is cool, but allows the skin to breathe when the temperature rises. The naturally camel-coloured Thai silk used here has slubs and a lovely gentle lustre which makes it really special and the natural colour mutes the otherwise bright dyes, producing attractive, subtle shades. To create the light, open texture, a variation on treble treble (US double treble) stitch which I have named "long stitch", is used for most of the top, with trebles and double crochet (US double crochet and single crochet) for the shaping. For those of you who dislike making up (and who doesn’t?) the top is worked sideways from top to bottom in a single piece. This means there are no side seams to join, only a small amount of stitching at the shoulders and sewing in a couple of ends. Bliss! This kit will make a waistcoat to fit sizes:
