Knitting for Beginners (3-week course – evenings) – starts 11 Nov 2025
Enjoy three weeks learning all the knitting essentials! Debbie will teach you all you need to know to get started with your first knitting projects.
You’ll make 3 small, fun projects, each one specifically designed to allow you to practice your skills as you learn.
Relax in Debbie’s quiet, cosy studio in the centre of Altrincham. With small classes you can be sure of individual attention so you will never feel rushed and you can progress at your own pace.
Course level:
No knitting skills are required – Debbie will be starting right at the beginning. Have some experience or returning to knitting? This course is also a great refresher.
What you will learn:
- Casting on
- Knit
- Purl
- Increase
- Decrease
- Cast off
- Finishing and seaming
- How to follow a knitting pattern
- Tension (gauge) and why it matters
- Tips and tricks for avoiding common mistakes (and how to fix them!)

All materials are included – we provide quality materials – lovely yarn, knitting needles, comprehensive professionally illustrated photo handouts and a selection of Debbie’s own, exclusive patterns. We also include tea, coffee and biccies!
About your tutor:
Debbie is the resident technical knitting expert with Knit Now magazine and has been a designer and knitter for over 25 years so you’ll be in good hands! Debbie is the author of four knitting books: Hand-dyed Yarn Craft Projects, How to Knit (with 27 online videos), Knitting – Learn it.Love it. and 250 Knitting Stitches.
