One to one knitting tuition – half day session

About the sessions

Study your choice of knitting technique/s at whatever level, with personalised, one to one tuition with Debbie.

In this half day (3 hour) session you can set your own, customised schedule and learn at your own pace.

It’s a perfect opportunity to take your first steps in knitting, or, for improvers and more experienced knitters, to spend some time exploring new ideas and techniques.

This half day (3 hour) session is run in person at Debbie’s studio in Altrincham.

Looking for something a bit more in-depth? Debbie also offers full day and weekend sessions, in person or via Zoom. Or join one of Debbie’s group sessions.

You will learn:

For this session, you set the schedule! You’ll agree with Debbie what you are interested in and she will produce a session plan that suits you.

What’s included?

Debbie will provide all the yarn and equipment for the session. You are welcome to bring your own materials and pattern/s if you are looking for pattern support or dealing with a tricky design!

Tea, coffee and biscuits are also provided.

Course level:

One to one sessions are suitable for absolute beginners, intermediate and experienced knitters as well as those who may be thinking about developing their skills commercially as a designer, pattern tester or tech editor.

This is a course aimed at over 18s. Younger students are welcome if accompanied by an adult but please mention this when booking.

Where?

This is an in person course and will be hosted at Debbie’s studio in Altrincham, Cheshire.

We’re just a stone’s throw from the Metrolink, bus station and train station so easily accessible by public transport. We’re only a short drive from the motorway and there is on-street parking nearby and a multi-storey carpark a short walk away. Our facilities are accessible, being on the ground floor, however, as a complex of old engineering sheds, the floors can be a bit uneven. The studios have an adapted bathroom.

When?

One to one sessions are available by arrangement with daytime, evening and a limited number of weekend slots.

About the classes

Debbie loves to teach and has been a knitter for over 30 years so you’ll be able to pick her brains for tips, tricks and hacks!

As it will be your exclusive session, there’s lots of flexibility to learn what you want at your pace.

Keen to learn to knit but can’t attend in person?

No problem! We are delighted to be able to offer online classes live via zoom where you can enjoy a tutorial session from the comfort of your own home or studio. As the session is live you’ll be able to ask questions and Debbie will be demonstrating techniques on screen.

When she’s not knitting, designing, dyeing or crocheting, you’ll find her in the garden, tending her dyeplants, enjoying a nice craft beer or hugging a big mug of builders’ tea. And if you’re out and about, she can often be found in the mosh pit at a gig or enjoying some folk music!

Debbie says... I love teaching workshops and courses – part of the pleasure of doing something I love for a living is in knowing that other people have shared my passion and enthusiasm, learned something new, had lots of fun and generally had a good time! Teaching is a learning process for the tutor as much as for the students so I like to keep a comments book for feedback. Here are some of my favourite excerpts…

What our students say....

“I had a wonderful time and discovered a new passion! Thank you so much for your clear and thorough instructions and for being such an inspiration. My only problem is finding the time to fit dyeing into my already busy days – but never fear, it will have to be done! Inspiring!”
Rachel
“Wonderful! Thank you very much”. “A really fun session that demystified what had seemed like a very complicated craft to me before today. Thank you! “Fab fun. I was really curious to know how some many colours can get into a single skein – now I know (some!). I’d love to do some more! Thankyou!”.
