Aluminium Acetate – mordant for natural dyeing plant (cellulose) fibres

Price range: £5.50 through £10.00

Description

About aluminium acetate

Aluminium acetate mordant is a very fine white powder used to fix (mordant) natural dyes (except indigo & woad) to natural fibres. It is our preferred mordant for cellulose (plant) fibres, being easy to use and reliable.

With aluminium acetate mordanting is a one-step process. There is no need to ‘double mordant with alum-tannin’. Can be used for both hot and cold mordanting.

Like alum, it is refined from bauxite.

We recommend using at 5g per 100g dry weight of fibre.

Did you know?

We also offer aluminium lactate which is a GOTS compliant alternative to aluminium acetate.

It is used in the same way and is a by-product of the starch and sugar industries.

You can order aluminium lactate and find out more here.
