Thank you Bakewell Wool Gathering and Pete learns to handspin!

And so our 2019 show season draws to a close with a fab finale at Bakewell Wool Gathering  and thank you so much everyone for making it a great weekend!

We had a brilliant time. Great organisers, lovely fellow traders and an, as always, a fabulous opportunity to meet so many people, old friends, new friends, FB and social media friends we get to see ‘for real’, chatting to customers and sharing lots of lovely hand-dyeing, knitting, crochet, handspinning and fibre stories.

The weather for loading and unloading was kind and the food was fab (I am assured it’s all calorie-free when you eat at shows, right?). I made some small purchases

Undoubtedly the highlight of the show for me was seeing the lovely Diane of Murmuring Wheel showing Pete how to spin on a Great Wheel.

And, not for Pete starting with a bit of gentle park and draft on a handspindle, he went straight in there! And with Diane’s expert tuition he did a pretty good job for his first every handspinning, too! (just don’t tell him I’ve never tried a Great Wheel despite spinning for over 25 years – ssshhhh 😉 ). Check out the man in action in the video….

Spread the love with a share!
