6-week Intro to Eco-printing for the Online Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers

Eco-printing workshop

On 1 June I’ll be starting my 6-week Introduction to Eco-printing exclusively for the Online Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers (‘OLG’).

The course will cover the basics of eco-printing:

  • Choosing and preparing fabrics
  • Mordanting
  • Choosing plants for printing
  • Making an iron ‘blanket’
  • Making a dye ‘blanket’
  • Overdyes, modifying colours

How do I take part?

The workshop is open to all members of the OLG and there is no charge if you’re a member. To join the OLG, visit the website here. Once you are a member, you’ll be able to access the workshop files and get started!

Materials for the workshop

The workshop is designed so that you’ll be able to source most of your materials locally and minimal equipment is required. If you do want to extend your practice you can find additional mordants or dyestuffs here on the website.

About the Online Guild

The OLG is a fantastic resource for Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, particularly if you aren’t able to visit a physical Guild (although many people such as myself in a local Guild too!).

There are forums for fibre and textile related discussions, access to a virtual library of extensive fibre and textile related topics and resources, and a wide range of online programmes and workshops. It’s an amazing resource for fibre fans, bringing people together to share skills, ideas and experience, whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned expert.

Spread the love with a share!
