Natural dyeing workshop - 25th January 2020

Natural dyeing at Black Sheep Wools, Culcheth – limited places available!

My first natural dyeing workshop of 2020 will be on 25th January. I’ll be teaching at Black Sheep Wools in Culcheth (near Warrington) and it promises to be a gloriously colourful day as always!

Who is the course suitable for?

The course is suitable for complete beginners. For those who have done some natural dyeing previously there is plenty to explore too!

Do I need anything?

Everything is included – yarn, dyes, even gloves and an apron. Just come along and be prepared to have a fun, exciting day!

What will you learn on the day:

After a short introduction to natural dyeing, where the dyes come from etc., we’ll be creating a fabulous set of samples, taking you through the colours of the rainbow. With your samples you’ll be able to recreate a huge range of colours, all from natural dyes.

Next, you’ll dye a 50g ball of lovely wool yarn which you can knit or crochet into a small project.

After a lovely lunch (which is included in the price), I’ll be showing you some fun natural dyeing techniques – from solid colour (immersion) dyeing, gradients, dip-dye, speckling (yes, you can speckle with natural dyes!), veil dyeing, handpainting and more.

You can then choose from a range of my super undyed yarns (all specially selected for hand-dyeing) and you’ll dye another 100g of undyed yarn using your choice of techniques.

I also include a pattern from my own design collection for you to take away so you’ll have a project to take home and make right away!
