Hand Dyeing Heaven since 2005!

Summer School – Ball dyeing and sampling

A selection of yarns hand dyed wih procion dyes from DT Craft & Design by students on Debbie Tomkies' hand-dyeing summer school class

Summer School Day One

Day One was a helter skelter of introductions, lots of sampling, starting the first colourways (and a bit of maths!).

Before the course, students were encouraged to bring inspiration images and objects and they had clearly done their homework!

After producing the first set of samples for their recipe books, we spent some time exploring colour blending and learning how to create colourways that really work.

There were lots of questions (always a good sign I feel!) and Pete was kept super-busy at the sink!

At the close of the day we had experimented with several different ball-dyeing techniques based on the students’ first two inspiration sources as well as producing their first 72 colour recipes!

There are so many beautiful photos to share but here is a small selection. (I’ll be putting more on the Facebook page over the next few days so do pop over and check them out).

Spread the love with a share!
